Do you ever wonder why bad things happen to good people?

Well, I can tell you I have. I have pondered this for most of my life, along with questions like:

“Why God?”

“Why does this happen to me?”

However, it was not until recently that I have found my answer to this question.

We can take it.

As a Christian, I believe that there is a constant battle between good and evil. As we go about our everyday lives, we find ourselves meeting nice people and not-so-nice people. We find ourselves put in difficult situations that we didn’t want to be in, or didn’t think we deserved to be in.

I never wanted my father to abandon my mom and I.

But he did.

I never wanted my first love to break my heart.

But he did.

I never wanted the kids at school to bully me.

But they did.

Why?

I could take it.

The obstacles we face in life are not here to make us miserable. They are here to make us better. Having faith in God and knowing that God always has your back you will be able to handle everything with him.

When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown.”  Isaiah 43:2. (NLT)

With faith like a mustard seed, you can move mountains.

Bad stuff is bound to happen in life. However, we must have faith. We need faith so we can move those mountains that are blocking us from our goals, our dreams, our passions and our future.

Whenever someone tries to knock you down, it’s because they don’t want you to seek the heights you are capable of reaching. The Enemy doesn’t want us to reach our full potential but God does.

I will go before you, Cyrus, and level the mountains. I will smash down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron, Isaiah 45:2. (NLT)

As the sons and daughters of the King of Kings, we can do all things and we can take all things.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me,  Philippians 4:13. (NLT) This is my mantra.

Without him, I couldn’t take it.

I’ve learned in life that God isn’t going to let you go through things you cannot handle. God is with you every step of the way:

God strengthens you. God loves you. God cares for you. You just have to have faith.

Through those obstacles, those mountains and those unpleasant people in life, we become better people and most importantly, better Christians.

I know that if it weren’t for the rough patches I never wanted to experience, I wouldn’t be the person I am today. We are who we are because of our experiences. That’s what builds us. That is our road to character. However, we can’t do that without God.

So next time life gets you down, know this: you can handle it.
How? By having faith in our Savior Jesus Christ, because He will never let anything happen to you that you can’t take.
