With the Oscar nominations recently released, popular movies like Get Out, The Shape of Water, Lady Bird and Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri have snagged multiple chances to take home a little golden man on March 4.
There are many standout nominations including Greta Gerwig, director of “Lady Bird,” being the fifth woman to be nominated for best director in 89 years. If Gerwig won, she would be the second female director to win after Kathryn Biglow for her film “The Hurt Locker.” Jordan Peele, writer and director of “Get Out,” also became the first African American to be nominated for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.
