Dear Mom and Dad,

Thank you so much. I wish I could find more elegant words to express the amount of gratitude I have for you and what you have done for me, but a simple thank you will have to do for now.

Every time I step back to think about where I am and what incredible things I am doing abroad, I think of you.

Thank you. Thank you so much for letting me follow my dreams and travel the world for an entire month, without question.

Thank you for the countless checks you wrote and all the money you are selflessly allowing me to spend day in and day out, expecting nothing in return.

Thank you for saying yes when I ask to book yet another flight.

Thank you for pushing me to not be afraid of the world and for wanting me to see things you have yet to.

Thank you for telling me to be safe every time we talk, and for worrying about me from afar.

You have given me the gift of priceless experiences and lifetime memories, and I could never repay you for that.

I have learned how to navigate public transportation, say a few (two) Hungarian words and how to keep all of my things in one hand, safe from pick-pocketers.

But more importantly, I learned how lucky I am to have the opportunities I do. I have learned how much I value being close to home, and near to family. I have taught myself how to interact with people who are quite literally in a different world than ours. I’ve grown up more than I thought I might, and I’ll always credit this growth to being abroad.

I will value this experience for the rest of my life, and I am so grateful for the chance to travel in such a unique way.

So, thank you Mom and Dad, for all that you have sacrificed for me to be able to study abroad. I will never be able to put into words how grateful I am for you, and how vastly you believe in me.
