Sometimes, waking up in the morning is hard for me.  My love for sleep, my chilly room and the sheer comfort and safety of my bed encourages my habit of hitting ‘snooze’ on my alarm. Somedays, I hit snooze so many times that my phone gives up on me.

This school year, however, I have decided to turn over a new leaf. I, now, wake up and grind with a playlist that sets my mood for the day. This playlist is proven to motivate anyone to get up and have a productive day. Join me as we crush the mornings together.

Focus – Saweetie

This song reminds me to focus on what’s important: my goals. Anything else is a distraction.

DNA – Kendrick

The bass and fast beats alone will get me energized for the day, creating this inner hype that readies me to conquer the world. Also, the lyrics remind me that I need to work hard and take advantage of all the opportunities that are presented to me.

Throw A Fit – Tinashe

Sometimes, I just need a reminder that I am awesome and deserve everything I want. We aren’t taking “no” for an answer.

Finish Line/Drown – Chance The Rapper

First off, the beat in this song automatically makes me super happy, helping me to start my day off on a positive note. “Finish Line/Drown” reminds me that I don’t have to do everything by myself, and the finish line will be sweeter once I reach it.

Warriors – Koryn Hawthorne

“Warriors” is a motivational song that praises God to a modern sound. Every day is a battle and not everyone is going to understand your battle. But, you are a warrior so go out there and fight your battle for Him.

Blessings – Chance the Rapper

Focus on the blessings and the positive things in life instead of on the negative.

 Me Too – Meghan Trainor

Another song to boost your ego. “Me Too” tells you that you are awesome, and how no one can do you better than you can.

 Good As Hell – Lizzo

Yesterday might have not been the best, but today will be better. Everything happens for a reason, and you shouldn’t let anything keep you down for too long because everything is going to end up just fine.

 Reasons – Koryn Hawthorne

I might like Koryn Hawthorne a little too much in the morning, but it’s because her music is so positive, and this song is no different. “Reasons” reminds me of all the things I have to be happy about, which in turn makes me more positive throughout the day.

 Good Old Days – Macklemore

“Good Old Days” tells you that today will be just another memory, so cherish it and make it a day to remember.
