It’s that time of year again, the cold wind is blowing across central Texas and the only thing that’s going to thaw out our frozen hearts is the promise of a holiday filled with mushy couples photos, overpriced chocolates and probably watching a rom-com alone on the couch, right?

Okay, obviously that was a joke. There’s nothing quite like Valentine’s day to make us all feel more single than ever. While I somehow managed to find myself a Valentine this year (shocking, I know), I’ve spent the vast majority of my 20 Valentine’s Days as a single pringle. While it was never easy to spend this romantic day alone, one thing always made it better: my best girls.

This year, my roommates and I decided to invite our gal pals over for brunch to celebrate the day Galentine’s style. We were excited to celebrate together but wanted to keep costs down, and we ended up spending less than $100! Here are our tips for hosting a Galentine’s brunch on a budget.

Decorations:

We created a super cute feature wall using heart-shaped paper plates from the grocery store! Courtesy of PopSugar, this idea was easy and budget-friendly. We also decorated with a Valentine’s themed blanket from Marshalls and cute little banners from the Target dollar section.

Food:

My roommates and I all contributed different dishes. We found that throwing a brunch with friends or making it potluck style was an easy way to keep costs down! Some of our favorite dishes were this breakfast casserole and these yummy danishes (made with crescent roll dough!) The red preserves in the danishes gave the whole spread a festive vibe, and we used pink plates for an extra touch! Both dishes were super easy and popular with our guests, we also made monkey bread and mini pancakes, which are always crowd pleasers.

Entertainment:

Full disclosure: we had every intention of showing a movie but we honestly just chatted the whole time! Brunch over some nice Keurig coffee definitely brought us all together. But, if you’re looking for a fun Valentine’s movie to show, I recommend “Valentine’s Day” on Amazon Prime. Though it has a star-studded cast, it’s definitely cringey, but fun to watch with a group! If you’re looking for something that screams more girl-power instead of girlfriend, I also love “Someone Great” on Netflix.

I hope you have an amazing Galentine’s Day! Spending it with other amazing women seems to help fend off the single-blues this holiday can bring. If not, there’s always “Truth Hurts” by Lizzo to help you get through the day!
